Why I started Colours on the Face!

It's been quite sometime that I've started this blog. If you've taken a little tour on my blog then you would know that this blog contains reviews of makeup products, tips and tricks associated with it and so on so forth. I welcome you to my blog and wish that find the posts helpful and worth the while.

Before knowing about my blog, you should know me first. To begin with, my name is Gautami Roy. Professionally, I'm an engineer and I've been working for about a year now. Since I started working, I developed a fascination for makeup. When I was in college I had no idea, whatsoever, about proper makeup (like blending makeup, contouring, etc.); all I had back then was an eyeliner, a brown kohl pencil and a lip balm and I didn't even have a lipstick! I never bothered my parents about buying me makeup but I tried to look decent with my minimal resources and shared my mother's compact, lipstick, etc. Even now, I don't have a huge makeup collection but I try to use products in different ways.

So the first ever makeup item that I bought for myself was a Makeup Revolution single eye shadow called Smokin 2. Now, by then I was watching YouTube videos and following many vloggers and bloggers and even professional makeup artists. Eventually, I found that there are many chemicals that are used in makeup products which can cause some serious damage to our skin. I am not blessed with an impeccable skin and so I didn't want to further ruin my skin. Chemicals like parabens, phthalates, mineral oil and so on are found not only in makeup products but also in skin care products. Most of the affordable makeup and skincare products contain these chemicals. My first ever bought eye shadow too contained paraben, to my despair, and finally it's use was ceased.

Then onward, I became picky about makeup and even skincare. I now resort to my dermatologist for my skincare and mostly to my mother because of her innumerable tips and tricks (which I will share with you gradually).

Now why did I start this blog? The reason is pretty simple, I want women to use safer cosmetics. Well, it might sound absurd but with little awareness we can protect our skin in this world of obnoxious chemicals not only found in cosmetics but also in our environment. So, I am in constant search for "good" makeup or skincare items that are affordable as well. I love sharing things which I genuinely like and I will continue doing so. I still have a few items in my vanity which contain parabens and phthalates but I will never promote such products on my blog.

I am no expert but only a novice and to conclude, I will always try to talk about some of the better products available and share my views about it. Since through this blog I will be able to reach out to so many women (and men), so I would also like to know your views in this regard and through your valuable inputs others (and also me) can benefit from it.

Finally, thank you for visiting my blog and spread the message of love and kindness...!

(Left: 1 swipe     Right: 3 swipes)   Review: Would you be in shock if I say that I use this kohl pencil as a brow pencil? I seriously do it. The texture is waxy enough to be used as a brow pencil. It isn't the smoothest kajal pencil but better than those which crumble on account of their softness. Hence, I use it

Suncros Aquagel SPF 26 Review

Hello everyone. Today I'm going to review a sunscreen which is the Suncros Aquagel Sunscreen with spf 26. Of late I am only using products that are paraben free. As most of you know, paraben is a class of compounds that are used in cosmetics as a preservative. Although parabens help to keep our makeup and skin care products bacteria free, however it is said cause hormonal disturbance in our body. Hence, I prefer to be on the safer  side. I have used sunscreens from Lakme, Lotus, Khadi, Neutrogena and they all contain paraben. The Khadi sunscreen claims to be paraben free but I don't like its texture. On much research and consultation with a dermatologist I came across Suncros sunscreen. Suncros Aquagel Spf 26 Now, Suncros has many variants of sunscreens. You can find both cream and gel formulae sunscreens. Although this one has the term "gel"  in it, but the texture is actually that of a cream.  Packaging:   The sunscreen comes in a cubical c
